A quick thought
I have been working again on a beach cruiser I have sitting around the place. Those who know me better than most have seen it when I had it finished, and know that I kinda messed up the paint when I tried a new idea for it. I am in the process of stripping off the mistake, repainting it better than before, and riding it once again. Today I applied some chemical stripper to the frame and wiped off most of the offending paint and finish using a wire brush on it in the morning. It looked anything but pretty as the chemicals caused the old paint to bubble up and fall off, bits of paint still clinging on for life. To someone passing by they might have taken one look and wondered why all the work for something that looks like it has had it. As I used a brush to test an area and got down to bare clean metal, I noticed a few imperfections in the metal. I know they are there, but it doesn't bother me, I smiled when I realized I was getting closer to finishing off this project for the second time. I stopped and wondered, how this is a lot like our own lives and God. We try to live our life in a way that we think looks good, but maybe we have some junk that needs to be wiped off. As He cleans us up our imperfections are fully visible to not only ourselves, but to God. Does He look at our mess and say we are not worth it? Oh course not, imperfections and all He is ready to clean us up, make us all nice and shiny in His eyes, step back and say "Here is my masterpiece".
