My political ad

With political ad's and promises running at their peak right about now I have finally decided to throw my hat into the ring. I am now announcing my bid for presidency. My main promises will be more jobs and fewer taxes to help pull the economy back on track. My plan of action will be simply and straightforward: My first act as president will be to deport all illegal immigrants who are living here being supported on American tax dollars through welfare and health care. This would mean fewer tax dollars being wasted, more room in public schools, and new job openings that will need to be filled quickly. Waddaya say America? Hey, if you don't like me that's ok, I want to assure you to not be afraid to vote for my opponents (does that make me a traitor?). Oh, and by the way, my name is Manny and I approve of this blog post.

Never underestimate

I went over to my church on Saturday to help set up a pirate ship for the annual pumpkin patch. Has we were all working on various tasks the sprinkler system was cycling through its routine, and sometimes a sprinkler would come on that needed a paint bucket put over it so it wouldn't get parts of the ship or workers soaked. Then it happened, one came on in a spot that most of the work was being done. No available paint cans were heavy enough to push it back down, so I stood over it on a scrap piece of wood. As I stood there trapped my mind started to wander. Eventually I started to feel unimportant, like I wasn't doing as much as I should compared to everyone else, then I glanced around. To my left was a guy working with a jigsaw cutting out waves to simulate water around the boat, just to the left of him was wood waiting to be cut out or nailed to the boat frame, to my right was a group of kids painting different parts of the boat. As I took this in I realized that if I were to step off the sprinkler for just a minute or two all of these things would be affected and/or ruined. I made the realization that I have heard time and time again: never underestimate the role you play, even if you think it is small and unnoticeable. I happily stood there until another guy saw my plight and found something heavy enough to take my place.
