Chapter 4: Unleash the power!

Taka looked down the road and studied his situation for a brief moment. The course was one that started off straight, went through a long sweeping right hand turn, went straight again up to an "S" section, then to the turnaround point. He was on the section headed to the S portion, and he could see that the Neon had already gone through and was near the turn around point. Taka's mind went into overdrive trying to think of how to tap into that magical force he just heard about, it had to be real. Throwing all rationalized thinking out the window he tried the first thing he could think of, he yelled out at the top of his lungs "vTEC!!!!!!!!!!!" All of a sudden a rush that felt like a strong tailwind hit him, his engine roared to life and he could barely keep his front tires glued to the street. A 6 foot long flame shot out of his tail pipe and his tires sounded like they where begging for mercy. He hit the next gear and felt a sensation he had never felt before, he was actually going fast! His stock speedometer was now obsolete, it didn't go high enough to mark the speeds he was approaching. In all this excitement Taka could only say one thing: "Yeah baby!" He noticed that besides the extra boost in engine performance he felt more sure footed like he could take on any corner. He raced to the S section without showing any fear or regard for his safety, sliding himself to the left then right and straightening out as if he had been doing if for years. By this time Tony was on his way back through the course, taking it a little slower because he was sure he had the victory well in hand. Did it ever surprise him when he saw Taka coming in his direction and passed him going so fast the force of it pushed Tony sideways and almost into a street pole. Tony was wondering what he just saw, could it have been that same Honda that could burn more oil then rubber? Was he a sleeper car and didn't realize it? Tony took no chances, he steeped it back up a notch and decided he would run all out on the drive back and leave nothing to chance. He felt a little uneasy, because he knew, just like Taka, that things were going to get really interesting really quick...

All I can say is ouch

So today I got my butt kicked in more ways then one. First off me and my dad participated in a Wahshoe tournament, and when we entered we thought we might stand a good chance. After seeing the competition and playing the first game we realized that more of the professional guys had showed up to this tournament, not the lower skilled people we where hoping for. We quickly got our clock cleaned not winning a single game and going home in last place out of 8 teams. Then this evening I got taken out by Wendy to the new roller skating rink here in town, but you need to know that the last time I was on skates was back in grade school, probably first or second grade. Lets just say me and the ground got introduced a few times. I can brush off a fall, but what hurt the most was one time I ended up twisting my left leg a little bit, and then one time my left foot got caught underneath me when I was going down and I landed right on top of it giving my ankle a nice good twist. Has I hobbled my way into the house this evening I realized that my left leg might be really sore tomorrow, if it is I still got some crutches laying around here somewhere.

A letter from behind the lines

This morning I received a good reminder. Has I was getting ready for work a song popped into my head and I started to sing it. The song was "Sea of Faces" by Kutless, why that song came up I have no idea, but it seemed to fit. I guess the last day or two I had felt like I was just one person in a crowd of millions, would God really care about me when there are so many others out there all with their requests and problems? Just remembering that song gave me the reminder that God cares about each and everyone of us, to Him we are not just a face in the crowd, we are someone special.

I <3 confetti

I came home from work today to find that it snowed in my room while I was gone. I guess the forecast called for lots of confetti, because everywhere I looked the stuff was there! In the carpet, in my entertainment center, in my closet, inside glasses, everywhere!! My girlfriend Wendy and a friend of mine Melissa decided to decorate my room since my birthday is coming up, they are both too kind. If anyone is interested I am considering selling off my girlfriend, if you buy Wendy I'll through in Melissa for free and they can both drive you crazy, lol. Just kidding, I could never sell them off.

Ok, ok

Ok, so maybe I still wanted to slack off a little bit more before I got back into writing more on a regular basis. Sometimes that happens to me, I hit periods of time where I don't have much to say or don't know how to say it, followed up by times where I want to go on and on about things. This is also true in real life, just ask any of my friends and they will agree with me. Speaking of real life and people that know me, how are you doing Karen? I just wanted to let you know that Donny says hi and he has been thinking about you. In other news I have been away from the internet the last few days because I have been enjoying a 4 day weekend from work. Still have tomorrow off, I wonder what kind of trouble I can get myself into.

I'm one of those fish that cause delays

Wow, almost a week since I said anything here. I have had the time to do it and have had many different things to say, but just didn't feel motivated. To start out with let me say I know my update schedule for making fun of ugly cars has fallen apart, I started to confuse what days I needed to do it on. Starting today I realize that I need to post something for it every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month. Second item of business, be kind to bike riders on the street. Now when I say that I am not just talking about showing some courtesy in the way you drive, but also in the way you act. Over the past month it seems about once or twice a week I will get someone yelling at me from their car, and their whole point of doing it was just to harass me. Take for instance the two "homeboys" (2 white teenagers with big goofy sunglasses on and listening to rap) in an 80's Ford Explorer who decided they needed to yell out their opinion that I was a queer. What was so queer about going across the street in the crosswalk with the walk sign has puzzled me. So please people, if you don't have anything nice to say do us bike riders a favor and keep your lips zipped, I don't ride by your vehicle when your windows are down and yell out derogatory things at you for no good reason.

License to thrill

So last night I got to do some valet parking for a benefit here in town. The turnout was good but since some people wanted to park themselves and avoid us valets we only parked 20 cars between about 6 of us. The lowest end car I drove was a Nissan Xterra, nice little SUV but what I didn't like was the fact that it felt like you had to shove the gear shift into the next gear. Got to drive a keyless brand new Cadillac, I believe it was a CTS-V model, and it rode like a dream. I can also say the same about the Mercedes and Jaguar that I had some time with, and even a Saab 93 convertible. Even though I parked just a handful of cars the tips where unbelievable, for the few cars I moved everyone tipped and when I added it all up the grand total was $22. Looking forward to the next valet gig in April, at that one there should be at least 150 cars (most of them with the dealer plates still on)and the people will give decent tips.

Chapter 3: Do not adjust your radio

Takahishi followed the SRT-4 around a slight bend that would take them out of sight of the crowd. Every second that passed he seemed to be falling further and further behind, the taillights on the Neon started to look like little red spots in the distance. “Maybe I should give up and call it a night?” he wondered to himself. He realized that since he was now out of view from the crowd, and well behind the Neon, he could very easily turn off on a side street and be halfway home before anyone knew he was gone. Even with this idea in his mind he raced on, fearing that he would never be able to show up to any future gatherings, he might get teased on how badly he was beaten but it was a lot better then being taken out back and chopped up for parts for being a chicken and bailing out in the middle of a race. Then it happened, somewhere during the time he shifted from 3rd to 4th he felt something odd happen. He shrugged it off at first, then he realized what was going on: His radio got switched on! Then, he swore he heard a faint voice, it was very low to begin with, but eventually it got louder and clear. “Takahishi, can you hear me?” the voice on the radio called out. Taka, not knowing what to say to such a voice simply answered “ummm, yeah”. The voice responded back, “Takahishi, I need to make this quick because there is not much time left. My name is Takeo Fukui, I am the CEO of Honda but back when you where made I was working my way up, getting into R&D and even the racing corporation. I know everything about you, and I also know this: Honda’s are built to win, and the secret is in the force known as “vTec”, if you call upon this force you will not lose. “But, but, I am ancient, I was made way before vTec technology”, Taka stated. “Silence!” Takeo shouted, “If you draw upon it, you will win, guaranteed.” And just like that the radio shut off, and Taka was all alone again. Did he really just hear all of that? What is this “force”? How can he tap into it?…….

Super Bowl Extra Large (XL)

Yes, I'll admit it, when I first started seeing the "XL" all over the place and done in red and blue, I thought it was some marketing campaign hyping up the Super Bowl this year. I didn't realize that it was going to be the 40th Super Bowl, once I learned that the letters made perfect sense. The game itself was very interesting, and while it may have seemed one sided by the score both teams put up a good fight. The commercials where the highlight for me, I loved the ones that Budweiser put out, from the streaking lamb to the magical fridge to the little clydesdale who wanted to pull the wagon, I found them all entertaining. Also, the "Don't be too quick to judge" commercials that showed people getting caught at a bad moment where they might have some explaining to do was very funny. The fedex cavemen provided a great laugh, diet pepsi was also unique, and I can't help but mention the ad where the guy was bragging about how he had a ring tone for any occasion, and had the Benny Hill song play when his couch was on fire and what happened next was just too odd for words but me and my family found it hilarious. So, all in all I enjoyed this years Super Bowl, and I was going to buy a shirt but all they had was size XL.

You learn something new everyday

The students at school were tossing around the word "stupid" the other day. The teacher informed them to the actual usage of the word. Before I thought that the word meant the person was incompetent and couldn't learn anything at all. Turns out that it means that you can learn, you are just slow to learn. Also, it means that you tend to make poor decisions or careless mistakes. I can honestly say then that sometimes I am a "stupid" Christian, because at times I make poor decisions even though I know better, and even though I know God expects certain things I guess I am slow to learn that and make those careless mistakes. I guess while I am still am alive I can work on being smarter in my walk with God.
