Inside my mind

Getting old and stuff

Today at work I noticed the house across the street having a yard sale. It got me wondering about something. With today's society it seems like we have grown more accustomed to not carrying so much cash on us. The reasons could vary, but the main ones that come to my mind are fear of theft/loss, and the convenience of having a debit card that withdraws from your checking account. With this idea in mind I wondered if yard sales no longer attract people who are just passing by at the moment because they might not have the cash on them? Made me ponder. Also, I turned 29 the other day, and it has been one of the best birthdays ever. I couldn't help but laugh today at what I felt was an odd turn of events. My dad called and asked if I could leave my car for him so he has some transportation to work in the morning. No problem, he has a clean driving record, doesn't have to go far for work, and he is my dad. I laughed because it seemed just like yesterday I was asking him if I could use the family vehicle. Now it comes full circle and he asks me, giving me the opportunity to say yes and know it made him happy.

My first real valentine's day

Today was the first valentine's day Wendy and I shared as a married couple. I look at this as the first real valentine's day I ever had. I got to spend the day unfolding little surprises I had planned out for the only woman I want to spend the rest of my life with. I will not share all the details, but lets just say I managed to cook her breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and didn't burn the house down or poison her.

Wii Ha!!!

So the other day a co-worker loaned me the New Super Mario Brothere Wii game. At first, it sat for a week collecting dust. I thought to myself that the game looked too confusing, I wasn't sure what all the hype and fuss was about. Then, last Saturday Wendy encouraged me to try it out with her. As someone who grew up in the 80's and had an original Nintendo, it was fun and full of flashbacks and references. We had just as much fun pointing out all the similarities from the various different mario games. My favorite had to be the moves and references from the lesser known "Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island". That game was a treat to find and play about a year ago on my PC through an emulator. As for the new Super Mario Brothers, I can say that after 8 days I defeated Bowser. For some reason it felt good to do that this morning, being a Sunday morning, felt like I was ridding the world of evil, lol. This completes the cycle for me, I realized that I have defeated a Mario game on every Nintendo console I have owned over the last 2 decades. Super Mario Brothers 2 & 3 on the NES, Super Mario Land 2 on the gameboy, and Super Mario World on the SNES. Holy cow I am such a nerd.
