Legalities

So I was working at the office the other day when I started to ponder legal sized paper. Why is it the size it is? Why did it have to be made longer than a standard 8 1/2 X 11 inch sheet of paper? In order to properly store legal files you need to put this special paper in special files that go in special cabinets, sounds like too much special equipment. Maybe that is why lawyers charge so much, it costs them extra to print out and store all those legal documents. Would it be illegal to use non-legal sized paper for a legal document? Ok, I will stop with the lame jokes.

History in the making (a.k.a. W00T!!)

So, today at church me and Wendy did something that we had never done before. We were in our first skit as part of the drama team, the theme behind the skit ties into the pastor's 3 week sermon of "Get in the game!". We each filled the role of a "character", someone he highlighted as a Christian who is not completely "in the game". My character's problem was that I am a consumer, not a producer, I am always feeding off of other people but I am not contributing much, just taking up space. Also, my character had a bad habit of criticizing others when I myself am not even trying. No lines were forgotten and no injuries occurred, although Wendy got me one good time with the laptop she carried as a prop for her character (you were awesome LM!). This series is supposed to run for 2 more weeks, should be fun as well as informative, can't wait to see how this message evolves into week 2.

Good news, bad news

As I was reading the local paper today, I came upon an update to a local story. 4 youths were arrested and charged with $13,000 worth of damage to a multi-use room at a junior high school. I remember that room, back when I first started working for the school district I would meet my student out front, we would go in to eat breakfast, then it was across the street to his school (the room is basically a b-ball court/cafeteria and is used by three schools all right next to each other). As I read on there was a name that stuck out to me. I read further, it said this individual was attending the junior high. Not wanting to see if I was correct I pulled out the yearbook I bought from when I worked that area, and sure enough I found them. Hard to believe that just a few short years ago I was working in the same classroom of a student who would be arrested and charged before they even turned 13. Brings a bit of sadness to me, because I remember this student being very active and a joy to be around, but also a little mischievous. I really hope this kid learns a lesson from this, bad habits are much easier to break when you are younger.

On to some happier news (because I need cheering up, lol), Wendy celebrates her b-day today!!!! WOOO HOO!!! :-D Me and some of her close friends have been plotting for about a week getting ready to make sure she has a birthday she will not soon forget. Speaking of which, I better go take care of a few last minute details before it is time to go pick her up...

Blah blah blah

I figured I am long overdue for a post about something I do in my spare time that most of you have no idea about so it is going to be boring. About a while back (about a year actually) I stared a project that was little more than a 1980's beach cruiser, some twisted metal, rust, and a lot of ambition. Did the project die out? No. Did it lose some momentum? Yeah. Colder weather forced me to stop when I was in the beginning stages of painting, but since it was getting insanely hot out I pulled it back out to work on it some more. The handlebars and front fork are almost done, and the frame is about 98% ready for paint, going to see what I can do tomorrow with my Labor day holiday. I know I procrastinate, but it seems like I have been slow to the finish since I first started this thing, maybe I should name it "manana", which means "morning", but also slang for "tomorrow sometime". A lot of times in my life I take the "manana" attitude and put it off for another day, and then that other day turns into a week, and next thing you know I am so far behind it is not even funny, I might as well just admit defeat.

That's all the news for now, stay tuned to the 10 o'clock edition that will have the breaking story of the chicken giving his side of events in his journey across the road.
